One book apparently is not enough for the long history of Georgia. “Studies in the History of Georgia” has been published in eight volumes in the Georgian language and in five volumes in Russian. The present book is concise but tells the history of Georgia from the ancient era (Stone Age, i.e. 35,000 years ago) through the modern times (including the Rose Revolution of 2003 and Russian Aggression of 2008). The book deals with different issues of Georgian history: geographical location of the country, natural environment, population, historical and geographical review, ethnogenesis of the Georgians and the place of the Georgian language among the other languages. The book systematically tells about the main events of the life of Georgian people and sometimes those of its neighboring peoples and countries as well. The book is attached with the list of the most important dates of the nation’s history. The book abounds with illustrations and artwork with appropriate descriptions....

„Wuthering Heights“ by Emily Brontë tells the story of a love – or perhaps hate – triangle. Catherine Earnshaw, who starts out as a rebellious girl, blossoms into an opinionated, treacherous woman who is in love with two men. Or so she thinks. The story line progresses through generations, preaching the message to love the one you truly love.

The story of a woman who flees country life for Chicago, Illinois and falls into a wayward life of sin. One of the most important novels America has ever produced, it ruthlessly exposes the hypocrisy and meanness of middle-class standards, and establishes a new tradition in literary realism.

„Three Men in a Boat“ (To Say Nothing of the Dog), published in 1889, is a humorous account by Jerome K. Jerome of a boating holiday on the Thames between Kingston and Oxford. The book was intended initially to be a serious travel guide, with accounts of local history of places along the route, but the humorous elements eventually took over, to the point where the serious and somewhat sentimental passages now seem like an unnecessary distraction to the essentially comic novel. One of the most praised things about Three Men in a Boat is how undated it appears to modern readers. The three men were based on Jerome himself and two real-life friends, George, and Harris. The dog, Montmorency, however, was entirely fictional, but, as Jerome had remarked, „had much of me in it“.

The Adventures of Tom Sawyer (published 1876) is a very well-known and popular story concerning American youth. Mark Twain\'s lively tale of the scrapes and adventures of boyhood is set in St. Petersburg, Missouri, where Tom Sawyer and his friend Huckleberry Finn have the kinds of adventures many boys can imagine: racing bugs during class, impressing girls, especially Becky Thatcher, with fights and stunts in the schoolyard, getting lost in a cave, and playing pirates on the Mississippi River.

The novel is based on the most tragic and scandalous story of Soviet Georgia of 1980s. Seven young people hijacked an airplane to escape from the Soviet Union, which was an exceptional action, because at that time even a thought of escaping from the Soviet Union was criminal! The Soviet government condemned most of these young people to death for their naïve even if dangerous attempt. The public opinion was split. A part of the public considered the youngsters to be just ordinary terrorists. The other part would argue that living under the Soviet regime was so unbearable that this could even justify the hijacking of a plane. Flight from USSR gives an opportunity to the reader to closely follow the leading characters, and learn more about their motifs and intentions than it would be possible by just reading dry court documents. Flight from USSR was staged in Georgian Free Theatre and is one of the most successful playes.
